Judo Dojo

2014_Norwalk_Dojo_Team_Photo_1920x1080Judo is the “gentle” fighting sport. It was created by Jigoro Kano to using techniques from jiu-jitsu to enable the practitioner to defend against an attacker by using his own momentum and weight against him. The dangerous striking and kicking elements were replaced to prevent injuries and other techniques were developed to be effective in defending against much bigger opponents.

We have seen examples of judo being used in many movies and in some excellent practitioners in cage fighting competitions. It is an excellent cardio workout and improves the balance. Nearly the only martial art, where practitioners can fully engage without protective gear with a much lesser chance of injury than other sports.

  1. I have a 5 1/2 year great grandson whom I would like to start taking to Judo, Both my father Ken Taketani and Robert Taketani have been involved in Judo for many years.
What time and day are the classes for his age and can we just come and observe a few classes first.

    Thank you
    Mary Taketni
